HEATING VS. BURNING
Heating tobacco, rather than burning it, may seem like a small change - but it redefines tobacco usage. When you light a cigarette, the tobacco burns at more than 800°C at the tip, creating smoke and ash. IQOS heats tobacco to a temperature up to 350°C, releasing the true tobacco taste and nicotine without burning the tobacco
IQOS HEATCONTROL TECHNOLOGY
IQOS HeatControl™ Technology is a specially designed and patented technology that monitors and controls the temperature of the IQOS heating blade. The heating blade is made of ceramic incorporating platinum, gold and silver tracks. Through IQOS HeatControl(TM) Technology, the tobacco heats to the ideal temperature for 14 puffs or around 6 minutes (whichever comes first) ensuring a consistent tobacco flavour without burning.
TOBACCO STICKS
Open up a pack of tobacco sticks and you’ll find they’re much shorter compared to cigarettes.
When you light a cigarette, the combination of oxygen and tobacco is what keeps your cigarette lit, burning the tobacco. This provides the energy source needed to extract nicotine and taste. When smoking a cigarette, you lose most of the tobacco (2/3rds to be exact) through the process of burning.
IQOS HeatControl™Technology uses a heating blade to heat the tobacco inside our specially designed tobacco stick - and this replaces the tobacco that is burned in a cigarette.
