Information about menthol ban

As of May 20, 2020, all menthol and menthol capsulated cigarettes will be banned in all EU markets, including in Duty Free points of sale.
This ban results from the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD 2014/40/ES), which entered into force on May 19, 2014, and became applicable in the EU Member States on May 20, 2016. The Directive introduced a ban on cigarettes and RYO with characterizing flavors, i.e. clearly noticeable smell or taste other than tobacco. However for mentholated cigarettes the ban will apply as of May 20, 2020.
Menthol cigarettes are forbidden according to the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD 2014/40/ES). As of May 20, 2020, all menthol and menthol capsulated cigarettes will be banned in all EU markets, including in Duty-Free points of sale.
Banned products include cigarettes with menthol and/or mentholated capsules, mentholated roll-your-own tobacco (RYO/MYO).
Products named above are exempted from the ban, because their sales are less than 2,5% of all tobacco product sales in the European Union. EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD 2014/40/ES) is dedicated to widely spread mentholated tobacco products.
All mentholated tobacco products must be taken out of the selling points as of May 20th, 2020.
